Election Announcement: Call for Nomination, INLS Election 2014 -16

The INLS election of the Executive Board will be held on Tuesday, July 15th, through Saturday, July 19th, 2014.

The INLS will elect President, Senior Vice President,                4- Regional Vice Presidents, General Secretary, Secretary and Treasurer for the term 2014-2016.

Greetings from INLS 2014-2016 Election Committee!

 

On behalf of INLS Election Committee/Observers, I take the pleasure to officially announce the INLS Election 2014 and encourage you all to be a part of this election as guided by INLS By-Laws. Please find the INLS Election 2014, Call for nomination announcement attachment with this mail. 

 

The procedures for the election of Executive Board are governed by Article VII (1) and current Election Guideline of INLS By-Laws. Please refer to the Election Guideline and INLS website at http://www.inls.org/others/election-guideline.pdf  and http://www.inls.org  respectively for further details.

Election Board Nominations and Election Procedures

Any life member of the INLS, who has been in good standing for one (1) year and completed a full term as board member of both INLS and INLS Chapters, preceding the filing of the nomination, may be nominated by either another member in good standing or by himself.

 

Nominations must be submitted in writing or electronically to the Election Commission at inlselection2014@gmail.com  by 11:59 PM, June 21st, 2014. A qualified individual could file nomination himself/herself or anyone can file nomination on their behalf, however two INLS life or trustee members must support for candidacy.

 

The election shall be held by secret electronic ballot 24/7 from Tuesday July 15, 2014 through Saturday, July 19, 2014. The ballot will be mailed electronically between the hours of 7.00 a.m. - 12.00 p.m. (U.S. Eastern Standard Time) on Tuesday, July 15 through Wednesday July 16, 2014.

 

There will be no absentee and proxy voting. A list of nominated candidates who qualify for nomination will be sent out in advance through an INLS Election 2014 Update.

 

  In order to vote, a person must be:

·         Be an INLS life or trustee member in good standing by June 18, 2014.

·       The membership fee must be paid via PayPal by 11:59 a.m. of June 18th or check deposit slip must be dated before midnight of June 18th and scanned copy should be emailed to INLS treasurer by June 18th, 2014 at 11:59 p.m.

·      June 20th  Eligible voters’ list will be published on the INLS Election Committee Roster on www.inls.org

 

How to nominate?

 

* Nomination Form:

Fill out the nomination form (sample is given below), scan, and attach the completed form and email to INLS Election 2014 at inlselection2014@gmail.com by 11:59 PM, June 21st 2014.

 

 * Introduction of the candidate:

 

An introduction should include a page-long description either in Nepali or English language stating why one should vote for you? The description and your action plan must incorporate necessary innovative ways for the advancement of INLS’ shared mission and vision. Please provide your passport size picture.

 

* Nomination fee:

Fee for the position of INLS HQ President is $100.00 and for the rest of the positions is $50. Each candidate must submit nomination filling fee to INLS treasurer. The required amount can be paid via PayPal on inls.org and the scanned receipt of the nomination fee must be emailed with the application toinlselection2014@gmail.com 
 

INLS Election 2014 Timeline:

·         June 7th , 2014 – Call for Nomination  

 

·         June 18th  - Last day to become a voting member

 

·         June 20th - Final voter list publication by INLS Secretariat and posted in INLS website and officially    provide to Election Commissioners.

 

·         June 21st  - Final Day for Nomination filing  

 

·         June 22nd – Candidates 1st list publication  

  

·         June 27th  – Nomination verification and withdrawal deadline

 

·         June 28th  – Nominees’ verified list publication

 

·         June 30th – Complain on the Nomination (उम्मेदवारीमाथि दाबी बिरोध)

 

·         July 5th   - Nominees’ Final list publication

 

·         July 13th - Electioneering campaign deadline

 

·         July 15th - Electronic ballot mailing

 

·         July 15th  - July 19th  Online Voting Period

 

·         July 20th -   INLS 2014 Election result announcement

 

·         July 20th, 2014- INLS 20th General Assembly Meeting/Bhanu Jayanti - New Elected officers will take the oath of office during this Installation ceremony.

 

·         July 20th Midnight- INLS Election Commissions together with the Observers tenure ends with the official installation of the elected officers.


Election Code of Conduct:

Any attempt to sabotage election process and unprofessional conduct on your behalf will disqualify you from the election.

 

INLS Election Committee 2014 reserves the right to be the final authority to announce and form rules in order to conduct free and transparent election as guided by INLS By-Laws!

VII-2 -2 Minimum Qualification*

Minimum Qualification for each official will be as follows:

 

1. President: President will be someone who has served in INLS headquarter or the elected official of the INLS Chapter’s Executive Board for at least one successful term.  One shall not be running for the position of the president for more than two consecutive terms.

 

2. Senior Vice President: will be someone who has served at least one term in INLS headquarter or the elected official of the Chapter’s Executive Board for at least one term.

 

3. Regional Vice President – Northern America and Latin America: will be someone who has served at least one term in INLS headquarter or the elected official of the Chapter’s Executive Board for at least one term.

 

4. Regional Vice President – Asia: will be someone who has served at least one term in INLS headquarter or the elected official of the Chapter’s Executive Board for at least one term.

 

5. Regional Vice President - Europe : will be someone who has served at least one term in INLS headquarter or the elected official of the Chapter’s Executive Board for at least one term.

 

6. Regional Vice President - Oceania and Africa: will be someone who has served at least one term in INLS headquarter or the elected official of the Chapter’s Executive Board for at least one term.

 

7. General Secretary: will be someone who has served at least one term in INLS headquarter or the elected official of the Chapter’s Executive Board for at least one term.

 

8. Secretary: will be someone who has served at least one term in INLS headquarter or the elected official of the Chapter’s Executive Board for at least one term.

 

9. Treasurer: will be someone who has served at least one term in INLS headquarter or the elected official of the Chapter’s Executive Board for at least one term.

International Nepali Literary Society (INLS), Washington D.C. was established in 1991 and incorporated in the District of Columbia, USA. It is an international organization of volunteer members who are interested in languages, literature, art and music of Nepal.
